This was the last Biohazard album with Bobby Hambel, who left due to differences with the remainder of the band. Hambel invested time in White Devil, likewise featuring members of the Cro-Mags, before apparently leaving the music company entirely. In late 1995, the band, along with Therapy? and Gunshot, contributed remixes to the Pitchshifter album.

It was produced with the assistance of Dave Jerden. For the 199697 Mata Leao Tour, the band hired previous Helmet guitar player Rob Echeverria. The band also played on the Ozzfest mainstage together with Ozzy Osbourne, Slayer, Danzig, Worry Factory, and Sepultura. The band signed to Mercury Records and released their 5th studio album, New World Disorder, in 1999, as soon as again with Ed Stasium as a producer. The relationship with Mercury Records soured rapidly as the band felt betrayed and misconstrued by the label.

In 2000, the band continued to visit Europe and Japan, without the assistance of a record label or management. In 2001, the band launched a compilation album titled. The album included different B-sides and remixes from various periods in the band's recording history. The album was launched by the Phantom Noise & Vision label.

Leo Curley, of Outline and All Method Necessary, was employed as his replacement. In the exact same year, Biohazard signed two new record handle SPV/Steamhammer in Europe and Sanctuary Records for the remainder of the world.
