PENCE VISITS AZ AMID RECORD HIGH COVID-19 CASES AND DEATHS: VP Pence is in Arizona meeting with Gov. Doug Ducey as the state combats the coronavirus pandemic. Earlier today, the Arizona Dept. of Health announced a record-high 4,878 new coronavirus cases and a record-high 88 deaths in a single day. The state now has over 84,000 cases and 1,721 deaths. On Monday Gov. Ducey rolled back the state’s reopening plans in response to this sudden increase in new cases and closed down all previously opened bars, gyms, and movie theaters. Ducey said he hopes to reopen these businesses within 30 days, adding that his ‘expectation is that next week our numbers will be worse. It will take several weeks for the mitigation that we have put in place and are putting in place to take effect.’
